RSGS has access to many stunning courses in the home counties. Swinley Forest, pictured above, is a firm favourite.

The Swedish community in London is well established. Don’t be surprised if you bump into an old acquaintance.

It can be difficult to get out on the course for a lot of us. Avoid months between rounds by taking part in RSGS events.
Being a new member of RSGS I didn’t quite know what to expect when arriving at the beautiful clubhouse of Effingham GC, home of the 2023 Summer meeting. What I experienced was a fantastic day of golf in great company, finished off with a delicious Swedish ‘midsommar’ inspired dinner. I would like to thank the organisers for creating a tremendous event, and to all members for making me feel so welcome.

Golf is often described as a game of honour and integrity, and understanding the fundamental rules is essential to playing it properly. Knowing the basic rules isn’t just about avoiding penalties – it’s about respecting the sport and enjoying it to its fullest. We all learned the rules back when we first started playing, but…
“Time flies when you’re having fun” as the saying goes and for my part the 2025 RSGS golfing year has flown by. I had the honour of becoming Captain at at the AGM in April, which also kicked off our golfing calendar at Worplesdon Golf Club. And what a cracking start it was! My first…
It was a rather drizzly Friday the 31st of October, but this did not deter the 20 RSGS members who arrived at Swinley Forest from 7 am. Teas, coffees and bacon baps were devoured, and the players were briefed on the the 3-ball waltz format that each flight would be competing as a team in:…
27-28 of September was a big weekend in golf. Team Europe was at Bethpage Black playing excellent golf, and a number of RSGS members were at RAC Epsom playing the Autumn meeting. Much was said about the difficulty of the Ryder Cup venue ahead of the weekend, but as we all know, Team Europe was…

June 6th – ie Nationaldagen – saw 21 Royal Swedish Golfing Society members arrive at Effingham GC at 10:30 am to enjoy a spread of sandwiches, coffees and teas. First tee-off was at 11:30, and by 12:10 all 6 flights were on the course. The weather apps had threatened rain, but we remained dry and…
The RSGS players, or Team UK as we are known at the inter-society meetings, was a group of 16 at Praia D’El Rey. 13 players and 3 supporting cheerleaders. The event kicked off on Wednesday May 21st with a buffet dinner at the Marriot Resort hotel. Wine and conversations flowed, but it was a relatively…
I am deeply honoured to have been chosen as the captain of this very special golfing society. On a personal note, there have been longstanding family connections with the RSGS. My father Olof joined way back in the 1950s and then of course my brother Anders’ continued close involvement, as well as that of his…
This year we were blessed with decent weather and were able to successfully complete all our scheduled meetings. The Autumn meeting at Prince’s Golf club in Sandwich Bay even offered one day of “proper” links course conditions (very windy). That said the yearly mixed couples match for the Larsmon Tankard against Hadley Wood was unfortunately…

After last year’s cancellation due to bad weather, it was a joy to be able to stage this popular Royal Swedish Golfing Society (RSGS) season ending event at Swinley Forest on November 1st. The overall attendance was a healthy 21 players, with nine ladies and eleven men taking part. Conditions were ideal for autumn golf;…
